I've been reading quite a bit about Senator John Edwards and his admitted affair. Most notable is that it follows such the script of a lot of affairs.

Today's news was so sad though - now his betrayed wife is under attack because she "kept quiet" about the affair and was "complicit".

Here's the latest..
Elizabeth Edwards article

Very sad that she is being attacked in a public eye for something so incredibly painful.

Obviously those who criticize, have never walked this path before. Let's hope they never do and that they will continue to not have a clue what they are talking about!

It reads so weird. Like the supporters believed they have as much right to know as she did, WHEN she did - rather than it being a pretty private, painful thing that was really her call with how to deal with. I dunno I guess they are probably confused - it would be confusing to have voted for and supported someone - then found out they did wrong and think that you wouldn't have voted for them - and then find out that the person you would be sympathising with when you say it's wrong is someone who knew about it and helped him decieve you into voting. Or something like that I suppose. But it really does seem like it's expecting to be let into their private life WAY too much.

Poor woman to have to deal with infidelity AND cancer AND now public anger. Some people are so strong.

I like how you broke this down Mags.

As a Senator running for President of United States...the person who had the responsibility to behave ethically was HIM.

If anyone had the responsibility to at least bow out of the race, it was HIM.

To blame his wife for not reporting out to the public what happened - shifts responsibility.

Can you imagine going through being betrayed and having the entire country in on it?

Yeah good point!
I wonder if the people blaming her are in the mindset of - well HIM we've written off completely - but now we thing she's bad too for not alerting us to what HE'S like. Or whether they really are blaming her without blaming him at all - which would just be crazy!
